NBC Closes the Book on Daniel

from Agape Press
by Jody Brown and Fred Jackson

The program's creator (Jack Kenny) had harsh words for AFA for standing against Daniel. "AFA and bullies like them are hard at work to try and prevent you from seeing these beautiful shows," Kenny posted on a supportive blog site. "[T]hat is censorship, pure and simple -- and that is both un-Christian and un-American."
~~~~~~~~~
Ummm, so AFA and Christians are the bullies now. I don't think so. We have been bullied over tv programs for over a decade now. (Remember the mom who boycotted "Married...with Children"? She was right!) Our faith has been bullied (or attacked) since the 60's.
Know what? We ain't taking it anymore. We will fight back against those who would try to bully us into silence.
Kenny, and all those illustrious actors who (I still can't believe) leant their names to this project, can go re-do it for the Muslim faith. Or for the Budhists. Or for the Jewish faith.
But when those faiths scream OUT (LOUDLY) about it, then maybe Kenny and his ilk will begin to understand that you can't attack someone's faith and not expect there to be reprisals. People of those other faiths would also have fought this show. It WAS that bad.
I watched the show. It was no "Touched by an Angel"; or "Highway to Heaven"; it couldn't even touch "Joan of Arcadia" which tried to be like the two mentioned above. These shows left you with the feeling of hope and the love of God for all of mankind.
No, "the book of daniel" was NOT beautiful. It was an ugly, depressing, hopeless little show; and totally misrepresented my Jesus. Jesus will not be a wimp upon His return. He was not a wimp when your sins (and mine) crucified Him 2000 years ago. Nor will He be sardonic or perplexed~~shrugging His shoulders as if He were clueless too or confused. He is GOD. He is omniscient, omnipresent, & omnipotent.
"And standing in the middle of the lampstands was the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across His chest. His head and His hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And His eyes were bright like flames of fire. His feet were as bright as bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice thundered like mighty ocean waves. He held seven stars in His right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from His mouth. And His face was as bright as the sun in all its brilliance."
I just don't think the above description from Revelation 1:13-16 describes a sardonic; weak; ineffectual Christ. What I see described is a King of kings and Lord of lords who has come to JUDGE His world. EVERY knee will bow and confess Him King. You won't have a choice. The time for choice will have passed away.
Where Mr. Kenny gets the idea that Christians don't censor what comes into their homes I don't know. We are supposed to maintain a Biblical viewpoint, not a worldly viewpoint. That requires vigilance. It requires dedication. It requires censorship.
My family doesn't watch everything that is made for tv. They never have. We haven't even had tv for the past two years~~until a set of rabbit ears were given to us for Christmas. ( I still maintain there is NOTHING good on tv~although, they did allow me to view this 'book of daniel' show ~~like I said, nothing good on anyway.) Nor do we watch every movie made. Nope, some things are not invited into my home. Trash tv is one of them.
While we may be bashed for it, Christians are going to continue to make waves in this world. We are called to do so. We will no longer be quiet and meek about that which we can change. Getting shows like the "Book of Daniel" off the air, is one of the things we can change~~at least off of "free" tv. Now, if they want to go to cable, by all means do so.
Showing the world what our sisters and brothers in Christ are having to endure at the hands of other intolerant religions, we can show and try to affect change.
Helping to alleviate the suffering in this world by going to those places and building wells, or hospitals, or schools, or churches, is something we can do to bring about change.
So, instead of paying for drivel like this 'book of daniel' maybe NBC could use that money to affect real change in the world and donate it to help those less fortunate.
It would have affected more good than this puny show with its puny jesus could ever have done......
