SBC and AT&T back together again!

The United States Anti-Trust Laws in the 70's determined that AT&T had an unfair advantage over their competitors and thus broke up their company.

1984: AT&T was divested of its 22 Bell System companies under terms of an antitrust agreement.

It was supposed to make our phone bills cheaper. Only I remember the exact opposite happening. I didn't make any more long distance phone calls than I did when the Southern Bell Company was part of AT&T; but my bill more than doubled after the break-up!

So, how can SBC, 21 years later, in 2005 obtain AT&T then??????

What effect is this going to have on the poor consumer now? Triple the expense of our phone bills?????
