A new test allows pregnant women in their first trimester to find out if their babies have Down syndrome.
Dr. Gene Rudd acknowledges that there are reasons to test pre-born babies for any diseases or abnormalities. He says it can allow parents to better prepare for raising the child.
"My concern is ... where are we going with this? What is our goal? Are we looking as a society to develop a paradigm or a philosophy that we want to seek and destroy all the pre-born babies with disabilities?" {Yes. This is exactly where the proponents of abortion and euthanasia are heading, intentionally. Their belief is that handicapped individuals have no worth; they contribute nothing to society; they drain the money from the social coffers; therefore, they do not need to live. Only the millions of productive handicapped people have proven this fallacy wrong.}
Rudd worries that the test is simply to mark those babies for destruction through abortion. "If we're just doing that test to see how many babies we can identify that have a disability for the purpose of terminating their lives, that's not consistent with a civilized society," the Christian physician says.
Rudd says individuals cannot use the excuse that people with Down syndrome have a poor quality of life because he says they seem to be "pro-programmed" with a joyful view of life.

Do not forget the brilliance of many physically handicapped people~~Stephen Hawking to name just one.
What "perfectionists" seem to have either never realized, or refuse to acknowledge is that EVERYONE is handicapped in some way. Everyone has strengths AND weaknesses. It is those weaknesses that ARE our handicaps to overcome. Some are much more obvious than others; but they are there all the same.
Perfectionism, or utopia, can NEVER exist because we are incapable of perfection. We have too many "human" flaws~~of greed, selfishness, pride, vanity....etc.,etc.,etc.....
To determine that individuals whose handicaps are more readily apparent have no worth is just HUBRIS of the worst kind.
I find most mentally handicapped persons to be more human and loving than their intellectualized counterparts who come off as arrogant snobs.
For any group of individuals to determine another group's quality of life is negliable is a very dangerous thing indeed. Today, it might be the mentally handicapped they wish to prevent being born. Tomorrow it could be the physically handicapped. Ten years from now, it could be babies of Christians; or babies to minorities. Just where does it stop? Just who determines that?
No, human kind cannot handle this kind of power. It is this kind of unchecked power that gives rise to the Hitlers of the world. We've seen the documented proof of that.
God, Himself, considers all humans worthy of life. (Jeremiah 1:5) Even if you don't believe in God, how can you be less compassionate regarding life? If you are less compassionate, less loving, (and you will be because of your flawed human nature) you do not need to have this kind of power over life and death.
