Choosing the right College

Read the entire article by Jim Brown here: Agape Press

Many years ago, it really did not matter too much where you went to college. They all basically provided a well-rounded education that encouraged "free" discussions of many ideals.

Today, however, that is NOT the case. Many of our young people returning from their campuses state that they no longer speak out in class. Why? Because their "ideals" are ridiculed. In a profession that is supposed to encourage discussion and learning; who profess to be "tolerant" of all; has let the traditional Judeo-Christian families down completely by their scoffing, INTOLERANT, attitudes!

I have for years stated that the teachers in this country have the ability to turn our children into communists. Imagine my surprise when I found Abraham Lincoln's quote: "The philosophy of a school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next."

This is quickly becoming reality.

But as many parents prepare to send their youngsters off to college, they now have a wonderful guide to help them make the best possible choice for school placement.

>>>The Intercollegiate Studies Institute...includes reports on campus politics and intellectual diversity, and offers advice on which departments, professors, and courses to seek out and those to avoid.<<<

It is sad that it has come to this. Educators should not be brain-washing our children. That is not the job description of an educator. Since so many are not doing their jobs, it is up to us, the parents, to ensure that these young people do get that well-rounded education that they DESERVE! "The guide alerts prospective students to colleges and universities where academic radicalism has become dominant on campus."

>>>"Any education which undermines or just simply denies knowledge of the Bible or knowledge of Western history, of classical Greece, or of American history is in effect undermining the educational preparation of students and under-preparing them to be free citizens of the United States," Zmirak adds, "thereby really damaging our country and the students."<<<

Which, I fear, may be the goal.....

The best way to fight back?

Hit them in their pocketbooks! Giving your hard-earned money to campuses that still provide a well-rounded education sends a very LOUD message to all the others!

11/18 Update
from Agape Press by Jim Brown

Another excellent resource has just been published. Choosing the Right College: The Whole Truth About America's Top Schools (from Intercollegiate Studies Institute, 2005)edited by John Zmirak. This resource shares what schools to avoid and WHY.

But it also points out schools that are excellent choices such as: "...Wheaton in Illinois is both academically excellent and religiously solid in a sophisticated way," the editor says. "Your students will come out sophisticated defenders of the evangelical faith they took in with them."

For Evangelical Christians, that SHOULD be the bottom line. Our money needs to support those schools that support our belief systems; that will reinforce these beliefs in our children. Leave the other universities to the unbelievers and their dollars.
